Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, received a perfect score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign’s annual 2017 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), making it a “Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality” for the second consecutive year. The CEI, a national benchmarking tool for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workplace inclusion, provides an in-depth analysis and rating of large U.S. employers relevant to LGBT policies and practices.

“Thermo Fisher Scientific is a great place to work and this recognition for the second consecutive year is a result of our ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion,” said Sue Lambert, co-chair, LGBTA employee resource group, for Thermo Fisher. “The standards keep getting higher with the CEI so it takes a continuous effort to maintain a score of 100 percent. I’m proud to work for a company that is committed to workplace equality and making it a fundamental aspect of its corporate values.”

This is the 15th edition of the CEI, which evaluates companies across an array of equal employment opportunity policies and benefits, organizational LGBT competency and public engagement with the LGBT community. Thermo Fisher is one of 517 major U.S. businesses to earn a perfect score.

“Taking a step back and seeing how far we’ve come as a company is a humbling and proud moment,” said Alan Nevel, vice president of diversity and inclusion, for Thermo Fisher. “However, this is where the challenge begins, as we must continue with this momentum, strive and push harder to become one of the most admired companies in the world.”
